What You Need to Know About Jimmy Garoppolo

– Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the Silver and Black on March 17, 2023, with a three-year  $72.75 million free agent contract with $34 million guaranteed. He comes to the Raiders following six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

– He reunites with Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, who was the offensive coordinator when Garoppolo played for the New England Patriots from 2014 to 2017.

– Garoppolo is the 49ers’ all-time franchise leader in career completion percentage (67.5 percent), average yards per pass attempt (8.3 yards/att.) and has the second-highest career passer rating (99.2) in club history.

– Last season, Garoppolo played in 11 games with 10 starts and completed 207-of-308 attempts for 2,437 yards with 16 touchdowns against four interceptions for a passer rating of 103.0. In 2019, he registered single-season career-highs in attempts (476), completions (329), yards (3,978) and touchdowns (27). His 3,978 passing yards rank fourth-most in a single season in franchise history.

– Garoppolo has a 40-17 record as a starting quarterback, along with a 4-2 postseason record in his nine NFL seasons. Despite his season ending in Week 13 due to injury, he went 7-3 as a starter in 2022, throwing for 2,437 yards and a 15:4 touchdown to interception ratio.

– He has been to four Super Bowls.

It’s no secret that Garoppolo has been plagued by injuries throughout his NFL career, but worry not Raider Nation, the Silver and Black have also brought in veteran backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, who also was coached by McDaniels at New England.
